Sky sources understand Ian Culverhouse has been dismissed as Aston Villa's assistant manager after an investigation that followed his suspension last month.
Culverhouse, who previously worked with Villa manager Paul Lambert at Norwich and at Colchester, was suspended in April for disciplinary reasons.
The decision to sack Culverhouse means Lambert will likely be on the lookout for two people to join his backroom team after Villa's head of football operations Gary Karsa left the club last week.
Karsa was the subject of a separate internal investigation and faced allegations of bullying members of staff.
Goalkeeper Shay Given and youth team coach Gordon Cowans stepped into the breach left by the pair on a temporary basis last season.
Whether the pair are retained in those roles remains to be seen but 38-year-old Given, who holds both the UEFA A and B coaching licences, has been linked with a move away from the club to continue his playing career.
