According to reports, Aston Villa have agreed a fee of around £7million with Genk for Belgium international striker Christian Benteke.
Benteke is currently undergoing a medical and, subject to it being successful, the deal is expected to be concluded before the transfer window closes.
Genk have been asking for double Villa's £5.5m valuation, which frustrated the Belgium international.
He did not feature in the club's Europa League victory against Lucerne on Thursday night.
The West Midlands outfit have now seemingly agreed some common ground for the 21-year-old.
Lambert has watched the player in action on several occasions and feels he is the ideal kind of forward to supplement penalty box predator Darren Bent and the speedy Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Benteke, who has been compared to a young Didier Drogba, is a prolific forward and Benteke has netted three times in five games this season after being on target 18 times during the 2011-12 campaign in all competitions.
He also opened his account for Belgium in their impressive 4-2 win over Holland earlier this month in what was his fifth cap.
