Town manager has his eye on Villa defender

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has confirmed his interest in bringing Aston Villa defender Habib Beye to Portman Road. Skysports.com revealed earlier this week the 33-year-old, who has made just seven Premier League starts for Villa since arriving from Newcastle in 2009, is on Jewell's radar. And the Tractor Boys boss has confirmed Beye is a target as he looks to bring a new right-back to the club, having missed out on Pascal Chimbonda to QPR in the January transfer window. "We are trying to bring a couple of players into the squad, as I have been since I've been here," said Jewell. "Habib Beye has been mentioned and I've spoken to Aston Villa and that's something I've been trying to do to improve the squad. But there's been nothing yet. "He was in France (on Wednesday). I hope he comes but I have not heard anything since Wednesday."
