Shrewsbury look set to pip League Two rivals Burton Albion to the signature of Aston Villa's highly-rated striker James Collins.
The Irish youngster impressed during a loan stint with Burton, scoring five goals in 10 starts at the Pirelli Stadium.
However, the high-flying Shrews look to have beaten the Brewers to the 20-year-old's signature, which has left Burton boss Paul Peschisolido reeling.
"Jimmy looks like he will be joining Shrewsbury and that is a real kick in the nuts because he has done ever so well for us during the time he was here," he told skysports.com.
"He is a great lad that showed great promise, but unfortunately for us Shrewsbury have jumped in before we could and snapped him up.
"We will just have to get on with it and look elsewhere for another striker."
