Skysports.com understands Wolves are closing in on the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell.
Sidwell seemed set to move to Premier League rivals West Ham earlier this month, but the move hit a hitch despite the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
That has allowed Wolves to step in and lure the former Chelsea and Reading man to Molineux.
Sidwell is believed to have watched Wednesday's win over Chelsea in the Black Country ahead of holding talks on Thursday.
Villa are prepared to let Sidwell depart as he is out of contract at the end of the season and the player is keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football.
The signing of Sidwell would provide Wolves with a major boost as they look to build on their win over Chelsea by climbing clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table.
