Shot-stopper keen to secure first-team slot

Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen would snub a possible summer switch to Juventus because he is keen to secure first-team football. Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri is rumoured to be interested in a swoop for Sorensen, who has lost his place in the Villa's starting XI to loan signing Scott Carson. Villa boss Martin O'Neill is expected to complete the permanent signing of Carson from Liverpool at the end of the season and Danish international Sorensen has admitted he will have to look elsewhere for regular first-team football. However, Sorensen says he would not consider a move to the Stadio Delle Alpi as he would be unlikely to force his way in front of Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in Ranieri's pecking order. "My problem is that my first priority is that I want to play regularly," Sorensen told Ekstra Bladet. "I am fully aware that when Buffon is fit, he will play."
