Defender to start against Foxes

Curtis Davies is set to make his Aston Villa debut against Leicester in the Carling Cup. The Midlands rivals meet on Wednesday for the third round clash and Villa manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed Davies, who is on loan from West Brom, will start. O'Neill looks set to shuffle his pack for the meeting with the Foxes and Davies is likely to be one of a number of changes to the Villa side which defeated Everton in the Premier League at the weekend. "Curtis will definitely play on Wednesday and there will be a couple of other changes," O'Neill told Villa's official website.

Long-term

"I want Curtis to play. He has sat there on the bench for a couple of games, he has had a look at it. "He realises that it will be difficult to get into the side, which is what I want. But Curtis is here for the long-term. I envisage him being a big part of things. "There will obviously be a few other changes in the team. But I am still concerned with winning the game. We want to try to get through definitely." Patrik Berger is among those in contention for a starting place after performing well in the reserves following his recovery from injury.
