Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has contacted Milan Baros' agent about a move for the Aston Villa striker.
Baros has endured a frustrating time at Villa Park this season and has been linked with a move away from the club.
There has been interest from England, Germany and Spain, but Houllier is hoping to convince the striker that his future lies at Lyon.
"I can confirm that I saw Milan Baros' agent," Houllier told Lyon's official website.
Baros turned down the chance to join Lyon in 2005 and Houllier said he would not make another bid for the Czech Republic international.
However, Houllier added: "Only idiots never change their minds."
Houllier also hinted that John Carew, who was not included in the squad for a French Cup tie against Laon this weekend, could soon be leaving the club.
"Carew is on standby. It's a logical decision."
Alou Diarra, meanwhile, is set to be sidelined for approximately eight weeks after suffering a thigh injury.
Diarra injured himself five minutes from the end of Lyon's cup semi-final against Le Mans on Wednesday.
