Several out for Under-21s

Anton Ferdinand, Lee Cattermole and Andrew Taylor are out of the England Under-21 squad.

Anton Ferdinand, Lee Cattermole and Andrew Taylor have pulled out of the England Under-21 squad to face Holland.

The youngsters are due to face their Dutch counterparts in Alkmaar on Tuesday, but have lost the services of Ferdinand, Cattermole and Taylor.

West Ham United defender Ferdinand is absent due to an Achilles complaint which forced him to miss the 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Boro duo Cattermole and Taylor played the 90 minutes at The Riverside, but have not travelled with the Under-21 squad.

Cattermole is suffering from a dead leg and Taylor a calf injury, with both players also rated doubtful for Boro's Premiership game with Liverpool on Saturday.

The squad was then further depleted when captain Nigel Reo-Coker, Steven Taylor, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ben Alnwick also withdrew.

Sammy Lee, who has replaced Peter Taylor as coach for the game, is also without Kieran Richardson after the Manchester United midfielder was drafted into the senior setup.
