Wrexham have boosted their attack with the loan signing of Aston Villa youngster Sam Williams.

The tall hit-man arrives in North Wales on an initial month-long loan, with a view to an extension.

The 18-year-old has been in prolific form for Villa's reserves this season, with nine goals in 11 appearances for the Premiership club's second string.

Williams should be available for Saturday's match against Leyton Orient after impressing Dragons boss Denis Smith in action.

"I've watched him on a couple of occasions," Smith told the club's official website.

"He will be joining us on loan for a month, and if he does well then we can extend the deal for a further two months.

"The people at Villa speak highly of Sam and I'm hoping he will come and make an impression.

"From what I have seen of him, he is certainly capable of doing us a job."

With Williams arriving at The Racecourse Ground, young Wrexham striker Jamie Reed has joined Northern Ireland-based club Glentoran on loan until the end of the current season.
