David O'Leary says that he is still waiting to sort out his Aston Villa future.

The Villa Park boss is still waiting to here back from chairman Doug Ellis over a new contract, and the wait is unsettling the squad.

German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger's contract expires in the summer, but he will not sign until O'Leary's future is settled.

"He wants to stay with us, but he wants to know what is happening to me before deciding what to do," said O'Leary.

The former Leeds United boss is patiently waiting for his new contract, but Ellis's stalling will not help the matter.

"I'm sure I will hear back from the chairman although I'm not going to him with a begging bowl," O'Leary said.

The wrangle is the latest problem at Villa Park after the club were charge with an illegal approach for Southampton's James Beattie.
