Balaban set for Empoli talks

Skysports.com can reveal that former Aston Villa misfit Bosko Balaban is in Italy for talks with Empoli over a possible move to Serie A.

The 25-year-old is looking for a new club after ending his disastrous two-year spell at Villa Park.

Balaban, who only made eight first-team appearances for Villa, is now hoping to get his career back on track by finding a new club.

Empoli are keen to have a look at the former Dynamo Zagreb ace before pursuing their interest, but they could face competition from Real Sociedad and Hertha Berlin for his signature.

The player's agent Frank Trimboli revealed he is travelling to Italy to hold talks with Empoli representatives and that there was a great deal of interest in Balaban.

"I am going over to Italy for a few days to talk to Empoli," said Trimboli.

"They are very interested in him and will have a look at him.

"There has been great interest in Bosko and both Real Sociedad and Hertha Berlin are keeping an eye on him."
