Stockport County boss Sammy McIlroy has completed the signing of highly-rated defender Ashley Williams from non-league side Hednesford Town.
The 19-year-old has signed a deal until the end of the season with The Hatters, having impressed the former Macclesfield Town and Northern Ireland manager with his abilities.
McIlroy has also moved to try and land on-loan defender Danny Jackman from Premiership side Aston Villa but the Ulsterman has lost the race to sign goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.
The Aston Villa custodian had been on loan at Edgeley Park but he has opted to join Division Three high-flyers Hull City instead.
Meanwhile, the club have announced that they have reached an agreement with Chinese Second Division club Liaoning Tiger Star to acquire a 50 percent share of the Far East club.
The Hatters have had close ties recently in China and are due to tour the country next May.
As part of the deal, the Chinese club will change its name to Stockport Tiger Star and appoint an English coach to manage team affairs and oversee the club's youth development system.
