Bjelanovic considers Premiership

COMO'S Croat striker Sasa Bjelanovic has admitted he has had contact with Aston Villa and West Ham - and may ask to be loaned to The Premiership if he finds himself out of the first team.

Bjelanovic has not hit the expected heights since joining newly-promoted Como, and the arrival of veteran Uruguayan Daniel Fonseca could push him out of the selection.

"The media is paying too much attention to this," stormed Bjelanovic.

"So what if Fonseca is here. I know what my status is and I am not scared.

"He is old, I am young; so I think I have the advantage.

"Besides, I am not here to sit on the bench.

"I will be patient but it is no secret that I have had offers from other clubs.

"If I don't play I will probably make an arrangement with Como to play elsewhere on loan until the end of the season.

"Aston Villa and West Ham have made enquiries as well as Brescia, so it will not be hard to find somewhere that will give me a game and the opportunity to score goals."

Bjelanovic insisted that it is not nerves that have adversely affected his game, but admitted that homesickness has not helped - although the arrival of his family will now ease the situation.

"I'm not nervous at all, although I am not playing my best game," explained Bjelanovic.

"I had a little homesickness but the arrival of my wife and daughter has made me feel better.

"I'm sure that this will be seen in my game over the next few weeks.

"Como play a very defensive formation so the opportunities are limited for strikers.

"Therefore if we miss out on one opportunity it is far more important - and this inevitably puts a lot of pressure on us."

Bjelanovic will be remembered by Aston Villa fans for his goalscoring performance whilst at Varteks.

The striker starred as his side embarassed the Premiership club, and Graham Taylor may indeed want to give the Croat a chance in England.
