GRIMSBY TOWN have confirmed that Charlton Athletic defender Andy Todd will remain at Blundell Park until the end of the season.

Mariners manager Paul Groves has agreed a deal with Charlton counterpart Alan Curbishley that sees Todd's loan stay extended.

Charlton have insisted on an immediate recall clause, should they require it, although Town are looking into whether they can sort out a permanent deal before next week's transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that they have handed trials to Aston Villa's Sean Dillon and Neil Gibson of Sheffield Wednesday.

"We've a couple of lads on trial - Sean Dillon who has come from Aston Villa - a centre-half or full back - and he'll play central defence, and we have a midfield player Neil Gibson who has come from Sheffield Wednesday," reserve team boss Paul Wilkinson told Grimsby's official website.

"It will give us another chance to look at a couple of lads, and we're looking to bring in eight to ten lads over the next four weeks to have a look at as well."
