Alex Baptiste is hoping Blackburn's 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest will be the catalyst for a genuine promotion push.

Rovers followed up a midweek win against Birmingham with a stunning second-half display at the City Ground, where Baptiste used to be a supporter in his younger days.

"I don't think it gets much better for me," said the 28-year-old, who opened his account for the season when netting Blackburn's equaliser.

"I'm from the Nottinghamshire area, have got a lot of friends who are Forest fans and used to watch them as a youngster, so to score here is fantastic.

"More importantly, the three points and the second-half display were unbelievable.

"We've got bags of potential. This season has been one step forward, two steps back, but to do that to a promotion-chasing side shows the sky's the limit with this squad.

"When we're down, we never give up and we always finish strong in the second half. The talent we've got is fantastic and we've just got to back each other up.

"If we can come to a place like this and win, there's no reason we can't start climbing up the league," he told Rovers Player.
