Yeovil Town have allowed Jake Kean to return to Blackburn Rovers after deciding against extending his loan agreement.

The 23-year-old has spent the past month at Huish Park, during which time he made five appearances.

Gary Johnson initially expressed an interest in keeping Kean past the end of his short-term deal, but has now had a change of heart and sent him back to Ewood Park.

With Chris Weale and Artur Krysiak already on his books, the Yeovil boss believes the goalkeeping department is an area he no longer requires extra cover in.

Johnson told the Western Gazette: “Jake Kean has gone back to Blackburn now.

“We took him for that month as that's what we said we'd do and we'd look at it and then see whether he was head and shoulders above the keepers that we had.

“CV-wise he's had good Championship games. He's had an injury but they wanted him to get games and you couldn't turn that down.

“Over the course of the month he's done okay but we didn't feel that it was worth it, with the two goalkeepers that we've got, to continue it when the other two keepers are waiting for their opportunities.”

Kean has been with Blackburn since 2009 but has struggled to hold down a regular starting role – making 18 Sky Bet Championship appearances in each of the last two seasons.
