Sky Sports understands that Paul Robinson is in contention for an England recall after impressing at Blackburn Rovers.

The 34-year-old announced his retirement from international football in 2010, but could be lured back by the promise of a trip to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

He has been capped on 41 occasions for his country and formed part of England squads at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup.

Robinson was touted for a recall in 2012 by then Blackburn boss Steve Kean, but was quick to rule himself out of the reckoning.

He has, however, been in impressive form over recent weeks - having come back into the Ewood Park fold following a year on the sidelines.

Robinson caught the eye during two FA Cup clashes with free-scoring Manchester City and put in a man-of-the-match display on Saturday to help Blackburn to a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.

He has now secured three shut-outs in his last four Championship appearances and is being considered by national coach Roy Hodgson as a possible pick in his 23-man squad this summer - with Jack Butland seemingly back out of the picture after slipping behind Asmir Begovic again at Stoke City.
