Kean intends to draw from his personal experience next season

Blackburn boss Steve Kean insists he is the right man to bring the club straight back into the Premier League following their relegation. Rovers' 11-year top-flight stint ended with barely a whimper when they were beaten 1-0 by Wigan at Ewood Park last week and they end the campaign against Champions League finalists Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Scot is convinced he has the nucleus of a good, young team that can take the club forward in the Championship next season. He said: "I said to the lads - the ones that are still in the building - this is not the biggest squad but it is the youngest in the league. "I think they can take from this bags of experience. "The younger lads that have come in - Jason Lowe, Grant Hanley, Adam Henley - together with the senior ones that are left, gave it a really good go. "Last season we took it to the last game. This year we had two games to go. "We thought we could do it but it slipped through our fingers."

Experience

Kean intends to draw from his personal experience of Fulham's promotion campaign of 2000/01, when he was a member of Jean Tigana's backroom team, to reshape his squad. He said: "A number of years ago I was involved with the Fulham staff that managed to win the Championship. "When I look back on that and reflect on it, and how strong the squad was - we won the first 13 games. "It is about the depth and the quality of the squad and that is what we will attempt to do immediately."
