Steve Kean is counting on the support of Blackburn's fans ahead of what he is describing as one of the biggest games at Ewood Park in years.
Rovers are currently 19th in the Premier League and three points adrift of safety with just two games remaining, while they could be in deeper trouble by the time they face Wigan on Monday.
With the stakes so high, Kean feels the atmosphere generated by the crowd could be crucial in helping Rovers prosper.
Frequently at home matches this term sections of the club's supporters, frustrated at their team's plight, have vented their anger at the manager and Blackburn's owners Venky's, but Kean is adamant there needs to be unity.
"The hostile atmosphere that can be created for away fans and teams coming to Ewood is important," Kean said.
"We want everybody being behind what we are trying to do.
"It is a massive game, probably one of the biggest games we have had at Ewood for years and our last home game.
"Every team likes to finish off with a home victory in their last game. We just want everyone to get behind the team."
Wigan respect
Wigan go into the contest in fine form, having won five of their last seven games to rise to 16th, three points clear of the drop zone they previously inhabited.
Kean has been impressed by the job that Roberto Martinez has done with Wigan but believes Blackburn can come out on top if they adopt a positive approach.
"I take my hat off to Roberto and his team," Kean said.
"I think they have been fantastic and possibly even should have picked up some more points.
"They have been playing very good football - I went to watch the game when they played Newcastle (a 4-0 for Wigan at the DW Stadium) and they were excellent and didn't let Newcastle get a foothold in the game.
"They have been playing lots of good stuff, but we now have to get after them, they are coming to our home ground.
"We have to make sure we are positive, create chances and get goals."
