Keith Andrews: Midfielder has joined West Brom after falling out of favour with Blackburn

West Brom's new signing Keith Andrews has revealed he told Blackburn he had no desire to play for them after being treated in a way he feels was 'a disgrace'.

The 31-year-old feels was unhappy with the way his career was handled by Rovers over the last seven months, and is looking forward to a fresh start with the Baggies.

And he admonished Rovers' Indian owners Venky's and manager Steve Kean for their actions.

"I spoke to people last season and said if they wanted me to move on that was fine," he said.

Communication

"They guaranteed I'd be involved. But during the summer my advisers were hearing I was being touted around all over the place.

"They were telling people I was available on loan - and agreed a season's loan without me knowing. I didn't want to go to that club.

"The way I was treated was a disgrace - my phone number was bandied around my contract details were made public in a paper. It was underhand the way they went about it. No lines of communication at all."

Andrews, who was brought to the club by Paul Ince from MK Dons, was largely a bit-part player once Ince was sacked.

Inclination

But he thrived during his loan spell at Portman Road and upon his return told Rovers he wanted to leave Ewood Park.

"I came back last month from my loan spell at Ipswich and they thought I was coming back into the fold," he added.

"I had a meeting with manager to see what they were thinking - they were of the mind to play me against Fulham on Saturday.

"I said I had no inclination to play for the club again after the way I'd been treated."
