Sky Sports sources understand that West Brom are interested in bringing in midfielder Keith Andrews from Blackburn.
The Republic of Ireland international, whose contract expires in the summer, handed in a transfer request at Ewood Park on Monday.
Andrews has fallen out-of-favour with Rovers boss Steve Kean and is hopeful of securing a last-minute move away in order to gain first-team football.
The 31-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Ipswich and Portman Road boss Paul Jewell made little secret of the fact he would like to re-sign the experienced midfielder.
The Republic of Ireland international does not want to jeopardise his chances of playing for his country at Euro 2012 but has not played since the 1-1 draw at Leicester on Christmas Eve.
And now Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is understood to be eyeing up a late move for the player as he looks to strength his squad.
