Sky Sports sources understand Blackburn are poised to unveil Eric Black as Steve Kean's new assistant manager later this week.
The number two position at Ewood Park is currently vacant following Paul Clement's departure to Paris St Germain earlier this month.
Former Coventry and Motherwell manager Black is reportedly being lined up for the role, having left his post as Sunderland assistant boss following Steve Bruce's sacking last month.
Manager Kean expects the club to confirm his new assistant before the end of the week.
He said: "We had good talks last week with a number of very good candidates and we're very confident we can announce something on Thursday."
