Rovers defender has claimed he was forced to pay an unlicensed 'agent'

The Football Association is investigating evidence it has been sent regarding Blackburn Rovers' signing of Gael Givet in 2009. Givet joined Rovers, initially on loan, in January 2009 before securing a £3.5million move to Ewood Park from Marseille that summer. However, the 29-year-old has claimed that he was forced to pay money to an unlicensed "agent" for helping to facilitate the switch. Correspondence has now been sent to the FA, who will examine it closely before deciding how to proceed with the matter further. FA rules strictly prohibit any third party being paid for a transfer unless a licensed agent. "We will be looking into the material and the issues that may be raised by the content," confirmed an FA spokesman. The French defender has made over 80 appearances during his time with the Premier League club and has been a key part of Steve Kean's side this season.
