Reported Blackburn Rovers target Nils Petersen has signed an extension to his contract at Bundesliga 2 side Energie Cottbus.
The Germany youth international is now going to stay at Stadion der Freundschaft until at least the summer of 2014.
Petersen, 22, believes that the new deal is an indication of his commitment to Cottbus, while the club's manager, Claus-Dieter Wollitz, also thinks it is a positive sign.
"I have always said that I like being at this club and how much I enjoy being part of this squad as well," Petersen told his club's official website.
"The contract extension allows me to signal that this was a firm belief and not just paying lip service."
Wollitz said: "This shows we are not just a stepping stone for players of a certain quality."
