Midfielder looking forward to return after lengthy lay-off
Lee Williamson remains confident that Sheffield United can start to climb the Championship table over the coming weeks.
The Blades have endured a disappointing campaign to date and currently sit just one point outside the relegation zone.
Gary Speed has left as manager to take over as Wales coach, but Williamson feels there is cause for optimism at Bramall Lane.
"You've got to stay confident when things aren't going so well and not every start to a season pans out the way you would want it to," Williamson told
skysports.com.
"Some clubs start well and others don't and unfortunately we have fell into the latter, but the gaffer was still trying to put his own stamp on the team with a new way of playing when he left.
"We know that we have the quality in the dressing room to help us surge up the league table and hopefully a good festive period will help lift the mood a little."
Meanwhile, Williamson cannot wait to get stuck back in to playing football again after seven months out through injury.
He added: "It is probably the longest time I have spent injured and I didn't realise how much I would miss playing football until it happened.
"It was just nice to be out there, even if it was only 30 minutes in the reserves because being on the sidelines gets you down.
"You are watching training sessions and games week in week out, but there is nothing better than being out there and getting involved."
