George Burley is hoping to keep on-loan midfielder Alex Marrow at Crystal Palace as talks over a deal for James Vaughan continue.
Marrow is on loan at Palace from Blackburn and is due to return to the Premier League club when the transfer window reopens.
He has impressed Burley during his time at Selhurst Park and the Eagles boss feels either a loan extension or permanent deal can be arranged.
"We've seen Alex's capabilities in his short time at the club and he has impressed us all," said Burley in the Croydon Advertiser.
"We're in discussions with his club and we're confident that come January we can tie something up."
Burley is also eager to finalise a deal to sign Vaughan on a permanent basis after the striker returns to parent club Everton next month.
He added: "With James Vaughan there are a few other bits and pieces to consider.
"The financial side of things has got to be right, but we are hoping that we can do something for both Alex and James. They've been good additions to the squad."
