Reported Blackburn target to remain in Bundesliga

Reported Blackburn target Makoto Hasebe has penned a new contract at Wolfsburg. The highly-rated Japan international was said to be on Sam Allardyce's radar, but he has now agreed a new deal with the Bundesliga club. The 26 year-old, who has also attracted interest from Italy in recent months, agreed to a new contract which will keep him at Wolfsburg until 2012. "I feel very much at home at VFL Wolfsburg and with the fans. I like living here too," he told the club's official website. "We have a wonderful team and I would very much like to play my part in ensuring that we quickly return to the European stage." The Japan international joined the Wolves from J-League's Urawa Reds in January 2008 and helped them win their first Bundesliga title last season. He is a certainty for Takeshi Okada's World Cup squad and is set to play a central role for his country in South Africa.
