Blades trio set for surgery

Henderson, Quinn and Williamson expected to miss last game

Darius Henderson, Stephen Quinn and Lee Williamson could all go under the knife before Sheffield United's last game of the season. The Blades face Ipswich on Sunday knowing they cannot break into the play-off zone and as such do not need to risk the long-term fitness of three key players. Midfielder Williamson, signed from Watford for around £500,000 last summer, has missed large chunks of the season due to a back problem. Striker Henderson has a hernia and midfielder Quinn requires surgery to investigate a possible nerve problem in his foot, which has forced the Irishman to play through the pain barrier in recent weeks. The Blades have been dogged by a long list of injuries throughout the season, with manager Kevin Blackwell struggling on several occasions to name a full quota of substitutes on match day.
