Stoke, Sunderland and Rovers battle for Egyptian

Sky Sports News understands Stoke, Sunderland and Blackburn are all keen on bringing Egyptian striker Amr Zaki back to the Premier League. The trio want to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window and see the former Wigan hit-man as the ideal solution to their problems. Stoke have been linked with an audacious move for Real Madrid ace Ruud van Nistelrooy, however, Zaki is a more viable option for manager Tony Pulis. Zaki lit up the Premier League in the first half of last season, although his form tailed off in the second half - culminating in Wigan not taking up the option on his services. He scored 10 Premier League goals in 22 starts and seven appearances off the bench, but several late returns from international duty saw him fall out of favour. The 26-year-old is now back with Egyptian side Zamalek and it is being reported that he could move on once again in the New Year as clubs review their options.
