Keeper pens contract extension

Rookie keeper Simon Eastwood has signed a new contract with League One outfit Huddersfield. The extended deal will keep the talented teenager with the Terriers until the summer of 2011. The 19-year-old is highly regarded at the Galpharm Stadium despite being yet to make his senior bow for the club. He has, however, represented England at U18 and U19 level and impressed greatly during a recent loan spell at Blue Square Premier side Woking. "We kept an eye on Simon during his loan spell at Woking and he did very well," Terriers boss Lee Clark told the club's official website. "It is good to have him back here alongside Alex Smithies and I believe he has real potential which can be developed here at Huddersfield Town. "We are lucky in the goalkeeper position at the club - not only having Alex and Simon but also having Matt Glennon here and he has been a consummate professional since my arrival. "It is now up to Simon to push Alex as hard as possible for the first-team shirt."
