Andy Cole has revealed his time at Burnley helped him rediscover his appetite for the game.
The striker, who is now at Nottingham Forest, admits he was considering calling time on his glittering career prior to his loan switch to Turf Moor in January.
The 36-year-old scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Clarets and began enjoying his football again.
Had Owen Coyle not saved him from Sunderland's reserves in the New Year, the former England international may never have got the opportunity to fulfil his boyhood dream of turning out for Forest - his hometown club.
Enthusiastic
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Turf Moor and I've got the greatest of respect for the manager," Cole told Forest's
official website.
"He's one of the main reasons I decided to continue playing this season because he helped make me enthusiastic about the game again.
"His appetite for the game certainly rubbed off on me and I'll look back on my time working with him and playing for Burnley with nothing but fond memories."
Cole is set to come face-to-face with Coyle on Saturday as Forest prepare to play host to Burnley in the Championship.
