Ryan Nelsen is to return to Blackburn Rovers ahead of the new season after representing New Zealand at the Olympics.
Nelsen was granted permission by Rovers manager Paul Ince to play for his country in Beijing for New Zealand's opening two games.
The 30-year-old featured as they opened their account with a 1-1 draw versus China before losing 5-0 to Brazil on Sunday.
Nelsen will now head back to Ewood Park as Ince plots for his side's opening Premier League game of the season at Everton.
New Zealand face Belgium on Wednesday in the last of their fixtures in Group C.
