Rovers misfit heads for Carrow Road

Norwich have completed the signing of Blackburn striker Maceo Rigters on loan until the end of the season. Rigters has had only limited first team opportunities since his summer move to Ewood Park, which followed a string of impressive performances at the European Under-21 Championship. The 24-year-old was the top scorer in that tournament, his goals including a fine overhead kick in Holland's semi-final win over England. With Roque Santa Cruz, Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and Matt Derbyshire all above him in the Rovers pecking order, manager Mark Hughes has allowed him to spend the rest of the season at Carrow Road.

Good opportunity

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder said: "I think this is a good opportunity for him to come with us with seven games to go and show everybody what he's capable of doing - scoring goals. "We beat off strong interest from a number of prominent Championship clubs and I am delighted." Rigters has made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League with his last start coming in the 4-1 FA Cup defeat at home to Coventry in January.
