Mark Hughes has backed David Dunn to play a pivotal role in Blackburn Rovers' push for European qualification.
Dunn has endured a torrid time with injuries in the past, however he now appears to be over his troubles, having tallied 22 Premier League starts this campaign.
The 28-year-old was in excellent form on Sunday as he played a key role in Rovers' 4-1 success over Bolton at Ewood Park.
And manager Hughes believes that Dunn's improving fitness and performances can only assist his side in their attempts to finish in the top six.
"David is always trying to get involved in a positive way. He is having an influence in the centre of the park which is really important for him," he said.
"He keeps getting stronger and he is training every day now. He has that base of fitness he needs. He possibly hasn't had that for a number of years and that's why he can put in the performances."
