Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes says Jason Brown's debut heroics will not be enough for him to keep the number one jersey at Ewood Park.

The Welsh international came on as a replacement for the injured Brad Friedel against Wigan at the weekend, and went on to save a penalty in his first appearance at Premiership level.

However, with the international break fast approaching, Friedel is likely to have adequate time to overcome his groin strain and continue between the sticks for Hughes' side.

"Brad pulled his groin and is a bit sore at the moment but if ever there was a good time to be injured it was right now because of the international break," said Hughes.

"Brad felt a tweak when he was kicking the ball so he could not have continued.

"But he is very hopeful of being back fit for the Liverpool game - much to the disappointment of Jason Brown."
