Blackburn Rovers are lining up an ambitious bid for Egyptian star Mido, after Tottenham Hotspur allowed the striker to return to Roma.
Despite impressing during his 18 month loan spell at White Hart Lane, the summer arrival of Dimitar Berbatov spelt the end of Mido's time in North London and Rovers are now hoping to capitalise.
Boss Mark Hughes is keen to recruit a big target man to complement Welsh livewire Craig Bellamy, with the Uefa Cup qualifiers being linked with giant Serbia & Montenegro international Nikola Zigic as well as Birmingham City's Emile Heskey.
However chairman John Williams has now revealed that Mido is the subject of interest from Rovers, who could attempt to prise the hit-man from the Serie A outfit.
"Mido is on a list of names that Mark has discussed with the board," Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"We are trying to bring in a striker and there are four or five names on our list."
Celtic striker John Hartson may not be one of those, with Rovers reportedly deciding against making a move for the former Welsh international.
