Charlton have entered the running for Blackburn's Jon Stead.Charlton have entered the running for Blackburn's England Under-21 international Jon Stead.
Rovers have already agreed a fee with Sunderland for the striker, but agent John Seasman revealed that The Addicks were also bidding to snap up the marksman.
"Jon's still away on holiday but he'll be back in the next few days to make a decision," said Seasman.
"Nothing will be happening until then, so there may be a decision later this week.
"Sunderland and Charlton have agreed a fee with Blackburn, who have given permission for him to talk to the clubs.
"I don't expect it to turn into an auction, hopefully it will all be sorted out nice and quickly.
"Jon has the utmost respect for both Mick McCarthy and Alan Curbishley.
"He know both are wonderful managers. He also sees Sunderland and Charlton as well-established clubs.
"This is a very important decision as it will determine the next stage of Jon's career, so it's a very difficult decision for him."
