Haining to remain a Blue

Ronnie Moore has denied speculation linking Will Haining with Wigan.

Oldham boss Ronnie Moore has told skysports.com that reports linking Will Haining with Wigan are entirely without foundation.

The dominating Scottish stopper has enjoyed an excellent campaign at the heart of Oldham's back-line and had reportedly been attracting attention from further up the football pyramid.

Premiership chasers Wigan, along with West Brom, were thought to be considering mounting a bid before Thursday's transfer deadline but this has now been dismissed by Moore.

''Absolute rubbish,'' Moore told skysports.com.

''I haven't taken one call with regards to Will.

''I'm big mates with Paul (Jewell) and I'm sure if there was anything in it he'd speak to me.

''He won't be going anywhere.''

Whilst Haining appears set to remain at Boundary Park, Moore admits he is looking to bring fresh faces to the club before Thursday's cut-off point.

''I'm looking to bring in a big, strong midfield player,'' he continued.

''We're still waiting on Blackburn to get back to us about Gary Harkins.

''I've got a lad, Amadou Sanokho, coming in on trial tomorrow to have a look at.

''He's a big 6ft 3, French lad, who'd been at Burnley.''
