Gillingham have completed the loan captures of Blackburn duo Jay McEveley and Jonathon Douglas.

The youngsters have moved to The Priestfield Stadium on one-month deals.

Both players will go straight into boss Stan Ternent's first-team squad for this weekend's game at Leeds.

It will be the second time that Ternent has linked up with McEveley as he also took him on loan when he was manager at Blackburn's Lancashire rivals Burnley last season.

The left-back, who has represented England at Under-21 level, has failed to force his way into the first-team picture at Ewood Park having broken through two seasons ago.

Douglas has also failed to cement a first-team berth at Rovers despite having earned two international caps for the Republic of Ireland last year.

The midfielder, 23, has already had loan spells at Chesterfield and Blackpool, and will be hoping to impress during his time with The Gills.
