Steven Reid has been fined £1,000 by The FA following an altercation with Jesper Gronkjaer.

The Blackburn midfielder appeared to elbow the then-Birmingham winger in the stomach when the two sides met in November.

Referee Neale Barry missed the incident during the 3-3 draw at Ewood Park, but TV cameras spotted the offence.

The 23-year-old escaped a charge of violent conduct and was instead charge with improper conduct, which brought about the minor fine.

Reid avoided any possibility of a ban due to the lesser charge, but he was warned about his future conduct.

"At a disciplinary commission hearing today, Blackburn's Steven Reid was fined £1,000 and warned to his future conduct," read a statement on the FA's website.

"Reid was charged with improper conduct following an incident involving Jesper Gronkjaer during the home match against Birmingham on November 21, 2004."
