Blackburn Rovers have agreed a fee with Aston Villa to sign goalkeeper Peter Enckelman as cover to first choice Brad Friedel - after his successful loan spell at Ewood Park.
Enckelman's place at Villa became virtually untenable after a critical error in the passionate Midlands derby against Birmingham last season.
New manager David O'Leary quickly brought in Thomas Sorensen - and Enckelman was told he could leave for a loan spell with Blackburn.
Enckelman has impressed the Lancashire club with his attitude and ability and Graeme Souness has agreed a fee to make his stay at the club permanent.
The Finnish goalkeeper will be second choice behind Friedel - who was one of Blackburn's most consistent performers last season - but will be grateful for a fresh start.
