BLACKBURN ROVERS are close to signing young goalkeeper David Yelldell from German side Stuttgart Kickers.

The 21-year-old spent time on loan at Rovers towards the end of the season and, according to the club's official website, is close to signing a deal in the next few days.

The youngster has dual citizenship - German and American - and so is keen to work with Rovers' number one keeper, US international Brad Friedel (pictured).

The Ewood Park outfit released third-choice shot-stopper Ryan Robinson earlier in the year and so they require back up for the giant American and for number two Alan Kelly.

Yelldell is highly rated by Blackburn's management and should sign in time to meet up with his new team-mates for pre-season training.
