BLACKBURN ROVERS are a step closer to sealing the permanent signing of Vratislav Gresko after the player opened talks with Parma over his release.

The Ewood Park side have agreed a £1.5 million fee with the Italians for the Slovakian international, but the 25-year-old has to finalise his Ennio Tardini exit before discussing a deal with Rovers.

Gresko impressed manager Graeme Souness during his loan spell, after joining in January, going on to make ten Premiership starts.

The club's chief executive John Williams confirmed the player is holding talks with the Serie A outfit, before returning to England to finalise personal terms.

"Vratislav's situation over there is being resolved and, once that is rubber-stamped, we can start negotiations with him over personal terms here," explained Williams.
