BLACKBURN ROVERS youngster James McEveley has won a four-year deal at Ewood Park.

The 17-year-old defender has impressed this season, after making the breakthrough into the first team.

McEveley made his full debut this season and is highly-regarded within the corridors of Ewood Park.

Rovers assistant manager Tony Parkes paid tribute to the development of McEveley.

"For a lad of 17 years old to come in to the Premiership and make such progress says a lot about his character and potential," Parkes told the club's official website.

"We are delighted to agree a deal keeping Jay at the club for another four years."
