TURKEY coach Senol Gunes is not concerned about Tugay retiring from the international scene insisting there is enough strength-in-depth to cover.

The Blackburn midfielder won his 80th cap, equalling Hakan Sukur's record, during Wednesday's 5-0 thrashing of Liechtenstein in the Euro 2004 qualifier.

Media reports in Turkey suggest Tugay, 32, will step down after the final qualifier with England in Istanbul but Gunes is not unduly worried.

"When their time comes there may well be players who want to give up international football," said Gunes.

"We'll look at it. The important thing for us is that people whose time has come leave and that players who still have the strength continue to play.

"(Tugay) may well want to (quit) but he's playing very well. He played very well."

Of more concern to Gunes could be reports that suggest Hakan Sukur, Ergun Penbe, Arif and Bulent could all follow Tugay in stepping down from the national team.
