BLACKBURN ROVERS warmed up for the Premiership kick-off with a 3-2 win over Barcelona, although new signing Corrado Grabbi left the field with a head injury.

Mark Hughes scored an 82nd minute winner against his former club to hand Rovers fans a massive boost ahead of their first game back in the Premiership, following on from strikes by Garry Flitcroft and David Dunn.

Bad news for the Ewood Park faithful could be the condition of the £6.75 million Italian after he was led from the field with a head injury ten minutes from time and could be a doubt for the opening game against Derby County.

Despite the injury Rovers boss Graeme Souness was delighted with the performance of his newly-promoted side.

"Today everybody worked hard and it is always great to beat such a big team no matter when you do it or how you do it," said Souness.

"What can you say about Mark Hughes? He will be delighted with his goal but winning is not the most important thing, it's about getting your fitness and today everybody worked very hard. It was just what we wanted at this stage - we concentrated and we were organised."
