Tottenham have made young defender DeAndre Yedlin available for a season-long loan, according to Sky sources.
Having recently signed Kieran Trippier from Burnley to provide competition for first-choice right-back Kyle Walker, Spurs are keen for Yedlin to further his development elsewhere and play regular games.
Yedlin – a 21-year-old USA international – signed from Seattle Sounders for a fee believed to be in the region of £2.5m last summer but was unable to complete his move until January because of issues over a work permit.
He subsequently made just one substitute appearance in April – the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League – despite Walker suffering injury problems.
Tottenham are currently assessing the futures of a number of young players including Tom Carroll, Harry Winks, Grant Ward, goalkeeper Luke McGee, Kyle Walker-Peters and Josh Onomah – all of whom were included on the post season tour to Malaysia and Australia.
Alex Pritchard has been told he will be a fully-integrated member of the first-team squad next term after thriving on loan at Brentford last season, but it is not yet decided whether Carroll, who enjoyed a successful season at Swansea, will join him.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer of Winks, whom he included in the Europa League campaign last season, and Ryan Fredericks, another right-back and another player who enjoyed a season-long loan at Middlesbrough. The club are keen to take care over their futures.
