Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has rubbished reports of any rift between him and defender Jan Vertonghen.

The versatile Belgium international has been in and out of the Spurs side this season, which has led to much talk of the pair having a disagreement.

The rumours escalated after the 27-year-old revealed last week that he will not be signing a new contract at the club, with four years still to go on his current deal.

However, after an impressive performance in Spurs' North London derby clash with Arsenal on Saturday, Vertonghen is still very much in Pochettino’s plans, according to the Argentinian boss.

"Maybe because I pick players in different games but any problem with Jan, this is wrong," Pochettino told the Newham Recorder.

"We have a lot of games ahead and need to see and analyse the performance and analyse the situation after the game.

"Maybe tired, maybe some problem, and after you need to manage. We have a strong squad and this is important."
