Northampton secure Archer loan

Northampton have strengthened their goalkeeping options by capturing Tottenham youngster Jordan Archer on loan.

The 6ft 3in 20-year-old has yet to be given a chance of first-team action for Spurs but did impress when making 29 appearances for Wycombe during a similar loan deal a couple of years ago. "Jordan is here to challenge for a first-team place," said Town manager Chris Wilder. "Dean Snedker needs to be playing regular first-team football and we are looking to send him out on loan. "It is important you have more than one player for each position and he is very much in the frame to battle with Matt Duke for a first-team spot and Matt knows that. He has a good pedigree and has some experience of League Two and I am pleased to add him to the squad." Archer added: "I've been doing my pre-season at Spurs and I've been looking to get out to get some games to boost my experience and the gaffer said there was an opportunity up here at Northampton and I said I'd like to come."
